Lead Speech & NLP Engineer (STT/TTS/LLM)

We are a well-funded technology initiative launching a flagship project to solve one of the most complex and meaningful challenges in modern AI: teaching machines to truly understand and speak the low-resource languages of our region.

Your Mission: What challenges await?

We're looking for a partner who will own the technical vision and execution of our speech technologies. Your key challenges will include:

• Tackle Low-Resource Languages. Our primary goal is to achieve state-of-the-art performance for speech recognition and synthesis in languages with limited data. You will apply and invent novel approaches to fine-tune and adapt models like Wav2vec, Whisper, VITS, XTTS, and more.

• Turn Groundbreaking Science into Production-Ready Products. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of our ML systems–from R&D prototypes to robust, optimized, and scalable production pipelines. Your job is to ensure the magic of AI works flawlessly 24/7.

• Build and Mentor an Elite ML Team. As a player-coach, you will guide and grow our team of ML engineers. Your mission is to elevate their skills, implement best-in-class MLOps practices, and foster a culture of engineering excellence.

• Serve as a Cross-Functional Technical Leader. You will work closely with our data annotation team, backend lead, and Product Owner, translating complex concepts into simple terms and championing the right technical decisions.

We're looking for a unique blend of a researcher's curiosity and an engineer's discipline.

• You are a player-coach with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in ML/NLP, and you've successfully led a team or mentored strong engineers before. You're not afraid to roll up your sleeves and write code.

• Speech & Language is your domain. You're fluent in STT/TTS architectures and have a proven track record of projects involving NLP and LLMs. You have a deep understanding of libraries like HuggingFace, PyTorch, Kaldi, or SpeechBrain.

• You know that data is the new oil. You have experience building data annotation pipelines and know how to transform raw information into high-quality training datasets.

• You live and breathe production. You have integrated ML models into complex systems and know all about the challenges of MLOps, CI/CD for models, and performance monitoring.
