• Perform static and dynamic piping stress analysis for critical piping systems using CAESAR II (or equivalent) in compliance with applicable codes (ASME B31.3, B31.1, B31.4, B31.8, etc.).
• Evaluate piping behavior under:
- Thermal expansion/contraction
- Sustained loads (dead weight, pressure)
- Occasional loads: wind, seismic, water hammer, slug flow, PSV relief, and surge forces.
• Conduct slug flow force analysis using hand calculations or simulation data provided Process Team.
• Model and validate the response of piping systems connected to sensitive equipment like compressors, pumps, turbines, columns, and air-cooled exchangers.
• Assess high-pressure and high-velocity lines for susceptibility to:
- FIV, particularly near control valves, reducers, and piping tees in gas and steam systems.
- AIV, especially downstream of blowdown valves, PSVs, and other noise-generating components.
• Evaluate and design pipe supports and restraints, develop and issue stress analysis reports, load summaries.
• Review and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), isometrics, general arrangement (GA) drawings, and equipment data sheets.
• Ensure piping layouts and routings comply with stress analysis findings and project requirements.
• Interface with civil/structural, mechanical, and process teams to resolve clashes and ensure robust designs.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support design teams during model reviews and constructability assessments.
• Review vendor documents for rotating, static & packaged equipment to ensure nozzle load compliance.
• Participate in project meetings and client reviews, and support construction and commissioning as required.
• Communicates and interface with other project design and engineering disciplines.
• Develop piping documents such as SP Datasheets, Technical Specifications, Line List, MTO, Tie-In Schedule, Job/Work Pack etc.
• Assis in development and review of the drawings such as PGA, Plot Plan, ISO drawings.
• Report Document and Activity progress.
• Proficiency in stress analysis software CAESAR II. Certification or training in CAESAR II is a must.
• Strong knowledge of ASME, API, WRC, and other relevant piping design codes and standards.
• Familiarity with piping materials, fabrication techniques, and support design.
• Knowledge of fatigue, vibration, and dynamic analysis (water hammer, slug flow).
• Awareness of compliance and audit processes.
• Ability to identify changes and improvements to the technical documentation and procedures to reflect Client’s changing requirements.
• Basic knowledge of computer based systems including, CAD, Database Management systems, Microsoft Office or equivalent software packages.
• Systematic thinker and shall have good time management to complete the assigned tasks.
• Strong personality with ability to be firm and persuasive without authority.
• Team player within and across functions.
Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field of engineering is a minimum requirement. Master's degree preferred
Language skills: English and Russian are mandatory. Kazakh is advantageous.
Professional experience: Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in piping stress engineering in the oil & gas.
