Senior Analyst General Accounting (Temporary)

Accounting Analyst is responsible for the correct and efficient execution of financial processes in line with our corporate policies. The purpose of the role is to ensure that accounting practices within the organization are compliant with the legislation and all SARS and other legal Regulations are applied, all accounting procedures followed and documented. It is also to ensure that reporting and financial controls are in place and in compliance with Mars financial guidelines.

What are we looking for?

• University degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent job experience a must;
• 3+ years’ experience working in a business finance accounting environment;
• Advanced knowledge of Financial Accounting and reporting (US GAAP), including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Source and Use of Cash required;
• End user experience with SAP is a plus;
• Advanced Excel;
• Other digital tools (Power BI, Tableau, Power Automate) is a plus;
• Fluent English;
• Strong people skills and be an agile thinker.

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Responsible for period and year end closing activities and reporting;
• Analysis of periodic results;
• Analysis of actual vs previous periods, deriving insights for Business partners;
• Review of the trial balance;
• Accounts substantiation and reconciliation;
• Balance sheet reviews participation;
• Supervision of outsource accounting services;
• Point of contact for different teams (e.g. Business partners, Controllership, Treasury, Tax, Currency Centre or Auditing firm, non finance functions);
• Internal control & Audit support;
• Implementation of priority projects defined by business;
• Maintaining up-to-date procedures;
• Continuous Improvement of effectiveness KPI;
• Ensuring compliance with procedures;
• Support of the audit process including interim and end-of-year audits by auditors Management of all Mars internal reporting.
