Investbanq is an AI-powered wealth operating system for family offices, asset managers and banks. We are empowering traditional financial institutions to rapidly transform into AI-driven WealthTech players, enabling them to effectively capitalize on the growing wealth transfer to affluent millennials and other digital natives across emerging Asia and MENA. We are scaling quickly across Asia and MENA and are assembling a high‑calibre engineering team to power our next phase of growth.
Why this role matters
As the Tech Lead for Platform Architecture, you will be the technical cornerstone of our engineering team. You will have the ultimate responsibility for the architectural vision, design, and implementation of our entire platform on AWS and other cloud platforms. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise who can lead a talented team of frontend and backend engineers to build a secure, scalable, and low-latency system.
You will mentor engineers, drive technical strategy, and make critical architectural decisions that shape the future of our AI-driven WealthTech platform. If you have a proven record of building complex, cloud-native systems in high-stakes environments like FinTech and enjoy leading from the front in a fast-paced startup, you will thrive in this role.
Our technology stack
You will be expected to have mastery over the technologies our teams use daily, including:
- Cloud platform – hands-on, expert-level knowledge of AWS is essential.
- Backend – NestJS, Node.js (Node 20+), TypeScript.
- Frontend – ReactJS, NextJS, TypeScript.
- APIs – REST, GraphQL (Apollo), WebSockets/SSE.
- Data & messaging – PostgreSQL (TimescaleDB), Redis Cluster, AWS SQS, S3.
- Infrastructure & DevOps – AWS ECS (Fargate), Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, Docker.
- Security & auth – AWS KMS, Cognito (OIDC), IAM best practices.
Responsibilities
- Architectural ownership – design, document, and lead the implementation of a robust, scalable, and secure cloud architecture on AWS for our entire platform.
- Team leadership & mentorship – lead and mentor a team of frontend and backend engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and innovation. Review code, guide architectural decisions, and raise the engineering bar for the entire team.
- System design – architect end-to-end solutions, from SSR-optimized frontends to event-driven microservices, ensuring high performance and resilience.
- DevOps & automation – champion the "everything-as-code" philosophy. Oversee and enhance our CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and deployment strategies on AWS ECS and Lambda.
- FinTech & security – implement and enforce enterprise-grade security and compliance standards suitable for the financial industry (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001). Design for data security using patterns like envelope encryption and least-privilege IAM.
- Cross-functional collaboration – work closely with product, design, and QA teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Requirements
Must-have
- Experience – 7+ years in software engineering with a proven track record of at least 3 years in a technical leadership or architectural role, ideally within a startup or FinTech environment.
- Proven record – demonstrable experience architecting, building, and deploying complex, scalable systems on AWS. A portfolio or detailed case studies of past projects is highly desirable.
- AWS expertise – expert-level, hands-on experience with core AWS services including ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, S3, KMS, Cognito, and PostgreSQL/RDS.
- Full-stack acumen – deep understanding of both modern backend (Node.js, NestJS) and frontend (React, Next.js) frameworks and the patterns to integrate them effectively.
- Infrastructure as code – strong proficiency with Terraform and Docker in a production environment.
- Leadership – exceptional ability to mentor engineers, drive technical discussions, and communicate complex architectural concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Communication – clear written and verbal English communication skills.
Nice-to-have
- Direct experience in FinTech, trading platforms, or high-compliance domains.
- Familiarity with time-series databases (e.g., TimescaleDB) and financial data visualization libraries (e.g., TradingView).
- Experience building and maintaining design systems and component libraries (Storybook, Figma tokens).
- Knowledge of observability stacks (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Active contributions to open-source software, tech blogs, or speaking engagements.
