Responsibilities

The Sociologist and Gender Specialist will be responsible for implementing and monitoring the social and gender-related aspects of the project in accordance with the World Bank's Environmental and Social Framework (ESF). Key duties include:

Conducting social screening, impact assessments, and identifying vulnerable groups and gender-specific risks.
Preparing and/or updating Social Assessments, Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs), and Social Due Diligence Reports (SDDRs).
Developing and monitoring the implementation of the Gender Action Plan (GAP) and Citizen Engagement Plan (CEP).
Ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and citizen participation, particularly among women and vulnerable groups.
Monitoring compliance with World Bank policies regarding SEA/SH, forced labor, child labor, and grievance redress mechanisms.
Supporting the development of training materials and conducting training for staff and contractors on gender sensitivity and social inclusion.
Collaborating with local authorities and community representatives to ensure inclusive and conflict-sensitive project implementation.
Contributing to regular progress reporting, public consultations, and field visits.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Gender Studies, Social Development, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of general professional experience.
At least 3 years of experience in international development projects focusing on socio-economic development, gender, or social impact.
Proven experience with gender mainstreaming tools, stakeholder engagement, and conflict-sensitive approaches.
Experience working with IFIs, particularly the World Bank, is highly desirable.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and report-writing skills.
Proficiency in Uzbek and/or Russian required; working knowledge of English is an advantage.
Strong computer literacy (MS Office suite).
