Юрист по морскому праву (Maritime Lawyer)

We are looking for a reliable and responsible employee to fill the position of Maritime Lawyer for our client. We are seeking a legal professional with a strong background in maritime law and shipping regulations to provide legal support for fleet operations, contract management, dispute resolution, and compliance matters.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel on a wide range of maritime legal matters, including shipping contracts, charter agreements, marine insurance, and international regulations.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with international maritime conventions, local laws, and industry regulations governing the transportation of oil and hazardous materials.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to charter parties, ship management, vessel sale & purchase agreements, and insurance policies.
• Manage and resolve disputes arising from charter agreements, cargo claims, collisions, and environmental issues, liaising with external legal counsel, arbitration bodies, and courts when necessary.
• Oversee and coordinate litigation matters related to maritime claims, regulatory investigations, and operational disputes.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with the company’s shipping operations, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and industry-specific legal standards.
• Provide legal advice on international trade laws, customs regulations, and import/export compliance for cross-border shipping operations.

Professional Knowledge and Competencies

• Law degree with a specialization in maritime law or shipping law.
• 5-7 years of legal experience, including at least 3 years in maritime law, preferably within the oil tanker or shipping industry.
• Strong knowledge of maritime laws, international conventions (SOLAS, MARPOL, UNCLOS), and oil & gas transportation regulations.
• Fluency in English and Russian on a native level (spoken and written) is essential.
• Experience in contract negotiation, dispute resolution, and legal risk assessment within the shipping industry.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills to manage complex legal matters in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to interact with regulatory authorities, insurers, external legal teams, and industry stakeholders.
