This role ensures that shipments are delivered efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with international trade regulations. The manager will coordinate with customers, carriers, customs agents, and internal teams to optimize operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
- Supervise and coordinate freight forwarding activities, including import, export, and domestic shipments.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation for shipments, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and freight invoices.
- Monitor and manage relationships with carriers, customs brokers, and third-party logistics providers.
- Oversee the use of freight management software and digital tracking systems to optimize shipment visibility and efficiency.
Customer Service & Relationship Management
- Act as the primary point of day to day contact for key clients, ensuring exceptional service and prompt resolution of issues.
- Collaborate with sales, account and business development teams to develop tailored logistics solutions for clients.
- Handle escalations and troubleshoot operational challenges in freight forwarding processes.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and company policies.
- Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes affecting freight forwarding and global supply chains.
- Manage risk assessments and implement contingency plans to minimize disruptions in the supply chain.
- Maintain accurate records and reports to support audits and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Lead, mentor, and train a team of freight forwarding professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Set KPIs and monitor team performance, providing feedback and coaching for continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with warehouse and transportation teams to streamline logistics operations.
- Encourage innovation and process improvement within the department.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in freight forwarding.
- Proven experience in handling international shipments, customs clearance, and trade compliance.
- Strong knowledge of freight forwarding processes (air, sea, and land transport).
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in logistics software, ERP systems, and tracking tools.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with customers and suppliers.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of Incoterms, customs regulations, and international trade documentation.
