Role:
As the Engineering Manager for our centralized DevOps team, you will own both the people and the delivery outcomes of the DevOps function. You will be responsible for building and leading a high-performing team, driving technical strategy alongside the Tech Lead, and ensuring that infrastructure, platform, and tooling initiatives are delivered reliably and in sync with product and business priorities. You will act as the bridge between the DevOps team and the broader engineering organization.
Your responsibilities will include:
Directly managing the DevOps team: hiring, performance reviews, career development, 1:1s, coaching, and building a collaborative engineering culture
Partnering with the DevOps Tech Lead to set and execute technical strategy for CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, monitoring, and security
Owning team delivery: ensuring work is well-prioritized, tracked, and delivered on time through effective sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives
Serving as the primary point of contact for engineering teams consuming DevOps
services, managing intake, prioritization, and expectation-setting
Identifying and removing blockers, managing cross-team dependencies, and escalating risks before they impact delivery
Driving visibility into team capacity, workload, and progress through dashboards, status reports, and stakeholder updates
Making resourcing and staffing decisions: identifying skill gaps, driving hiring for the
team, and managing onboarding of new engineers
Continuously improving team processes, tooling, and ways of working in collaboration with engineering leadership
Contributing to broader engineering organization initiatives such as incident
management, on-call processes, and engineering standards
Requred experience:
5+ years of experience in software engineering or DevOps/infrastructure roles, with at least 2 years in a people management capacity
Demonstrated experience managing a team of 4–10 engineers, including hiring,
performance management, and career development
Solid understanding of DevOps principles and practices including CI/CD, infrastructure as code (IaC), cloud operations, and site reliability engineering (SRE)
Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is essential — including core
services such as GKE and IAM
Familiarity with common DevOps tooling such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, GitHub Actions, or similar
Proven ability to manage a centralized or shared-services team serving multiple internal stakeholders, including intake management and prioritization
Experience working within agile frameworks and adapting delivery processes to fit
infrastructure and ops workflows
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills — able to translate complex technical topics for non-technical audiences and vice versa
Prior hands-on experience in a DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering role — a
strong plus
Experience in a scaling or high-growth technology organization — preferred
Fundamentals
Deep knowledge of Fundamentals, such as Mathematics, Statistics, Algorithms and Data Structures, etc, is always prioritized.
This role is about evolving solutions through Incremental Delivery rather than a Waterfall-style approach.
Stronger knowledge of Terraform and GCP is always prioritized.
