Head of Mining Project

We are looking for an experienced professional to lead the development and implementation of AIFC’s Mining Project initiatives. This role involves creating regulatory frameworks, launching innovative financial instruments, and driving investment opportunities in the mining sector through strategic partnerships and incubator programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investment attraction in mining sector of the economy both on early and mature stages. Understanding structuring and contracting details. Where applicable update contract regulations and corporate governance frameworks to accommodate mining-specific financial instruments (streaming, options, forward contracts).
• Stakeholder Engagement - working closely with both investment community and government entities to ensure execution of key project deliverables.
• Regulatory Framework Development – develop and adapt regulatory frameworks for mining funds and related financial instruments, ensuring compliance with industry standards. And also support the registration of mining-focused funds within AIFC and provide advisory services to potential clients and new funds.
• Mining Incubator & Investment Initiatives – design and implement the Mining Incubator concept, foster partnerships with industry stakeholders, attract junior mining companies, and create transparent investment mechanisms. Organize initiatives to promote investment opportunities through AIFC platforms.
• Leadership & Team Management – lead and mentor team members, ensuring effective collaboration and high-quality delivery of projects and initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Proven track record in mining industry projects or the natural resources sector.
• Experience in regulatory development, fund structuring, and investment frameworks is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of corporate governance and contract law.
• Strategic thinking and project management skills.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Fluency in English, Russian, and Kazakh.
• Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
