Job Description (contract for one year):

We need to hire a Chip Architecture and Design Lead (or a Principal SoC/AI Processor Architect) to build and lead the hardware that powers exnia’s data-center and AI products.

Purpose

Design next-generation processors and accelerators (CPU, GPU, and AI chips) for data-center AI training and inference, aiming to compete with NVIDIA’s flagship products.

Core Responsibilities

• Define system architecture: CPU, GPU, and AI accelerator integration (chiplet or monolithic).
• Select process node and packaging: Work with foundries (TSMC, Samsung) and packaging partners.
• Develop compute cores: AI-optimized cores (tensor, matrix, transformer engines) supporting FP16, BF16, INT8, and INT4.
• Design interconnect and memory: High-bandwidth (HBM3 or higher) memory systems and fast chip-to-chip fabrics.
• Model and simulate performance: Run benchmarks for AI training and inference workloads.
• Lead RTL and verification: Oversee logic design, verification, and timing closure.
• Coordinate with software teams: Ensure driver, compiler, and framework integration (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Drive manufacturability: Manage relationships with fabs, packaging, and testing partners.
• Plan roadmap: Define Gen-1, Gen-2 product strategy and target benchmarks.

Skills and Background

• 15+ years in semiconductor design, with deep expertise in SoC and AI accelerator architecture.
• Proven track record at NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, Apple, or AI chip startups.
• Expert in high-performance computing (HPC), parallel architectures, and hardware-software co-design.
• Experience in EDA tools, RTL, HBM, PCIe/CXL, and 5–3 nm nodes.
• Strong understanding of AI workloads (LLMs, CNNs, transformers).

Ideal Profile

Someone who can take the role of Chief Chip Architect / Head of AI Hardware, reporting directly to stakeholders, building the first-generation AI accelerator platform and forming a small core hardware team (architecture, RTL, physical design, packaging).
