Position Overview: 

The ELC Manager and Instructor will lead the planning, delivery, and development of high-quality English language programmes at Coventry University Kazakhstan. This role combines academic leadership with active teaching, business development, and partnership coordination. The post holder will oversee a team of part-time instructors, ensure academic excellence, manage the university’s IELTS partnership with the British Council, and play a key role in marketing and student recruitment initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the English Language Centre, including the development, delivery, and administration of high-quality English language programmes.

  • Teach a range of English courses (e.g. IELTS, EAP, ESP, Business English) and ensure effective student learning and progress.

  • Supervise, mentor and coordinate part-time English teaching staff; conduct formal/informal observations and uphold teaching standards.

  • Plan course schedules, assign teaching loads, and ensure timely communication with students.

  • Coordinate IELTS registration and test delivery in collaboration with the British Council (both on paper and computer-based formats).

  • Ensure students receive timely placement tests, counselling on course options, and full enrolment support.

  • Monitor student feedback and use it to improve courses and teaching quality.

  • Manage teaching resources and liaise with suppliers, ensuring procurement follows university policies.

  • Support marketing campaigns, corporate outreach, and represent the university at fairs, open days, and promotional events.

  • Maintain regular reporting to the university leadership and attend Centre meetings.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in teaching English as a foreign/second language.

  • Strong knowledge of IELTS preparation and EFL exam systems.

  • Previous experience in managing educational programmes or teams.

  • CELTA/DELTA or equivalent teaching qualification; postgraduate degree is a plus.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Ability to build relationships with partners and students.
