Android Developer

Andersen is looking for an Android Developer for a project with a mobile-only bank in the Middle East. The role involves developing new app features as part of the bank’s ongoing digital transformation.

The customer is a leading mobile-only financial services provider in the Middle East, focused on delivering a modern, convenient, and fully digital banking experience. Since its launch in 2019, it has rapidly expanded its user base, attracting tens of thousands of customers with its fast and intuitive mobile app. The organization has earned multiple international awards for excellence in digital banking, user experience, and innovation.

The project is part of a broader digital transformation roadmap that includes cloud-native performance optimization, potential migration to a custom core, core banking modernization, credit product enhancements, and cross-regional rollouts.

Responsibilities:

• Building and maintaining native Android applications using Kotlin and Java, ensuring smooth integration with the customer’s microservice backend and AWS infrastructure.
• Delivering high-performance, secure features for mobile banking products including upcoming credit card enhancements, trading modules, and cross-border transfers.
• Collaborating with product, backend, and QA teams to roll out new features simultaneously across Bahrain and Jordan, adapting to local compliance and UX specifics.
• Integrating and optimizing consumption of RESTful APIs, ensuring efficient network usage and offline resilience in banking-critical scenarios.
• Contributing to cloud-native mobile architecture by implementing clean architecture principles, background syncing, and encrypted storage.
• Optimizing app startup time, memory usage, and responsiveness, especially in data-heavy modules like financial dashboards or account analytics.
• Supporting automated build pipelines and implementing feature toggles, versioned deployments, and secure CI/CD workflows using Jenkins and Git.
  
  Must-haves:
• Experience in Android development for 2+ years.
• Strong experience with Kotlin.
• Proficiency in Java for Android development.
• Solid experience using Git for version control.
• Clear understanding of Git branching strategies and working with feature branches.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and participating in sprint cycles.
• Hands-on experience integrating third-party libraries into Android applications.
• Proficient in building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Level of English – from Intermediate+ and above.
  
  Nice-to-haves:
• Experience with Jenkins for CI/CD automation.
• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence for sprint management and documentation.
• General backend knowledge.
• Experience working with or integrating Backbase components into Android applications.
