Garment Technologist/China-Based

Location: China, preferably Guangzhou.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with designers and pattern makers to develop high-quality garments from concept to production.
• Translate design ideas into technical specifications, tech packs, and construction details.
• Source, evaluate, and approve fabrics and trims suitable for luxury garments.
• Conduct fittings and provide technical guidance to ensure perfect garment construction and fit.
• Oversee sample development and ensure adherence to brand standards for quality and finish.
• Work closely with factories to monitor production, solve technical issues, and maintain consistency.
• Implement and monitor quality control procedures throughout all production stages.
• Conduct quality control checks during pre-production, production, and final stages.
• Ensure garments meet luxury standards in durability, hand feel, finishing, and stitching.
• Ensure compliance with sustainability and ethical manufacturing practices where possible.
• Communicate clearly between Grunovis HQ and Chinese suppliers to streamline workflows and avoid miscommunication.

Requirements:

• Proven experience (5+ years) as a Garment Technologist in the luxury fashion industry.
• In-depth knowledge of garment construction, pattern cutting, fabrics, and production techniques.
• Experience working directly with factories in China and understanding local manufacturing culture.
• Based in China or willing to relocate, with flexibility to travel to factories as needed.
• Excellent knowledge of luxury finishing standards, garment testing, and quality control processes.
• Proficient in using tech pack tools and able to create accurate specifications.
• Strong understanding of quality assurance protocols and garment inspection standards.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills; able to liaise between design and production effectively.
• Fluent in English
