Position Overview: 

Academic Support Coordinator role focuses on enhancing student success through coordination of academic advising, tutoring, mentoring, and student support services. The successful candidate will manage key academic processes, support communication between students and faculty, and contribute to data-driven improvements in academic support.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Academic Support Services

  • Timetabling of tutoring, mentoring, and academic coaching schedules

  • Coordinate and maintain the Academic Support webpage, ensuring regular updates and improvements.

  • Offer guidance and support to students regarding academic support processes and policies.

  • Manage the department’s document register and ensuring accurate recordkeeping.

  • Process Enrolment Verification Certificate requests for students.

2. Resource Development

  • Maintain academic support materials, including study guides, handouts, and online resources.

  • Work with faculty to identify students who may benefit from additional academic support.

3. Program Coordination and Implementation

  • Track student progress and provide data on the effectiveness of academic support services.

  • Organise and facilitate peer mentoring and study group programs.

4. Communication and Outreach

  • Promote academic support services and resources through campus events, workshops, and outreach activities.

  • Communicate with students, faculty, and staff about available academic support services.

  • Respond to inquiries from students regarding academic challenges and support options.

5. Assessment and Reporting

  • Assist in assessing the needs of students and evaluating the success of academic support services.

  • Prepare reports on student participation and success in academic support programs.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of academic support programs based on feedback and data analysis.

6. Collaboration

  • Serve as the Secretary of the Extenuating Circumstances Committee, including validation of student sick leaves and communication with faculty.

  • Secretary for the Student Disciplinary Committee, supporting documentation, communication, and meeting coordination.

  • Organise meetings with students and faculty upon request and keeping detailed records of student interactions.

  • Manage room bookings and maintain the room booking webpage.

  • Provide translation support for institutional policies, procedures, and other documentation.

  • Work closely with academic departments, student affairs, and other campus resources to identify and address student needs.

  • Serve as a liaison between students and faculty to foster academic success.

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify at-risk students and provide timely interventions.

7. Other Duties

  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Head.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, or a related field (Master's preferred).

• Previous experience in academic advising, tutoring, or student support services.

• Possess strong academic knowledge and prior experience in academic support roles at

internationally recognised universities.

• Strong knowledge of academic support strategies, learning styles, and student success

initiatives.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.

• Experience in higher education or a student support-related role.

• Familiarity with student success software and learning management systems (LMS).

• Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting.
